WhatsApp App Chats are not syncing but WhatsApp Web is syncing
Why Messages Show in WhatsApp Web but Not in the Mobile App
Sometimes you might notice that messages are visible on WhatsApp Web but not showing on your phone’s WhatsApp app. This happens when your computer stays connected to WhatsApp’s servers, but your phone has trouble syncing the latest messages.
Common Causes
- Phone not connected to WhatsApp servers
- Weak, unstable, or no internet connection on your phone.
- Background restrictions
- Battery saver or data saver settings prevent WhatsApp from updating.
- App sync glitch or cache issue
- Temporary app data corruption can block message display.
How to Fix
Follow these steps in order:
- Check your phone’s internet and ensure it’s stable
- Test your connection by opening a website.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if needed.
- Stay on a stable connection until all chats are synced.
- Restart WhatsApp on your phone
- Close it fully and reopen.
- Clear cache or reinstall WhatsApp
- On Android: Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Storage → Clear Cache.
- On iOS: Delete and reinstall WhatsApp (ensure backup first).
- Disable battery/data restrictions
- On Android:
- Go to Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Battery → Set to “Unrestricted” or “Allow background activity.”
- Go to Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Mobile Data → Enable “Allow background data usage” and “Allow data usage while Data Saver is on.”
- On iOS:
- Go to Settings → WhatsApp → Enable “Background App Refresh” and “Mobile Data.”
- Restart your phone
- This refreshes network and background services.
If the problem continues
If messages still don’t show on your phone after trying all the above, reinstall WhatsApp after confirming your chats are backed up. This resets your account connection and ensures all messages are re-downloaded.
