Understanding WhatsApp Limitations — Bans, Sync Issues & Message Not Available

This guide covers the 3 most common WhatsApp limitations that ChatDaddy users face when using WhatsApp Personal or WhatsApp Business App (QR connection).
⚠️ Issue 1: WhatsApp Number Ban / Account Banned
What is a WhatsApp Ban?
WhatsApp bans are issued when their terms of service are violated. Your account gets logged out — either temporarily (with a countdown timer) or permanently.
How to check: Open WhatsApp on your phone. If banned, WhatsApp will display a notification informing you.
Two Types of Bans
Temporary Ban — For minor violations (e.g. using unsupported apps, spam-like activity). You cannot access the account for a few hours to several days. A countdown timer is shown.
Permanent Ban — For severe or repeated violations (harmful content, mass spamming, being blocked by many users quickly). The account cannot be reactivated; you must start a new one with a different number.
Why Did I Get Banned?
- Getting blocked by multiple contacts for spamming
- Sending messages to new numbers you have no prior chat history with
- Broadcasting at very high speeds to unknown numbers
- Repeated policy violations
How to Prevent Bans
- Avoid messaging new/unknown numbers
- Only broadcast to existing customers you've chatted with before
- Broadcast slowly and to targeted audiences only
- Use separate numbers for different purposes (customer service, marketing)
- Consider upgrading to WhatsApp Business API (WABA) if broadcasting is core to your business
How to Appeal a Ban
Via the App (Recommended):
- Open WhatsApp → tap "Request a Review" or "Contact Us" from the ban screen
- Write a polite message explaining your situation
- Include your phone number in international format (e.g. +60123456789)
- Mention if you believe the ban was a mistake or if your account was hacked
Via Email: Send to support@whatsapp.com with your number, explanation, and context.
WhatsApp typically responds within 48–72 hours. Do not send multiple appeals.

⚠️ Issue 2: WhatsApp Read/Unread Sync Issue
What Is the Issue?
Messages may show as "read" in ChatDaddy but still "unread" in WhatsApp (or vice versa). This is a technical limitation on WhatsApp's end — they do not always pass the correct read/unread status to third-party platforms.
How to Fix It
Disable Chat Action Sync in ChatDaddy:
- Go to Manage Channels → select your WhatsApp channel → three-dot menu → Show Advanced Settings
- Locate "Enable Chat Action Sync" and uncheck the box
Once disabled, ChatDaddy will manage read/unread status independently — more reliably, though there may be minor differences from WhatsApp's own view.
⚠️ Issue 3: "This Message Is Not Available" / "Waiting for This Message"
What Does It Mean?
These error messages appear when WhatsApp cannot display a message you were supposed to receive. The message exists but cannot be retrieved or decrypted at that moment.
Possible Causes
- Encryption or device change — Sender or receiver reinstalled WhatsApp or changed devices
- Network problems — Poor connection interrupted message delivery or download
- Outdated app version — One or both users are on an older WhatsApp version
- Message deleted or expired — Sender deleted it or disappearing messages expired
- Unsupported/corrupted media — WhatsApp can't process the file type
- Multi-device sync issue — Your phone was offline and didn't pass encryption keys to your linked device (e.g. ChatDaddy)
What Can You Do?
- Ask the sender to resend the message
- Make sure your WhatsApp app is updated to the latest version
- Keep your phone online and connected while using ChatDaddy

Long-Term Solution: Upgrade to WhatsApp Business API (WABA)
If bans, sync issues, or limitations are affecting your business, the recommended long-term fix is to upgrade to WhatsApp Business API (Coexistence):
