How to verify your Business on Meta? (Required for Official Whatsapp Business API)

Step-by-step guide to verify your business on Meta Business Manager — required for WhatsApp Business API, higher messaging limits, and the Official Business Account badge.

Updated Jun 23, 2026

Meta's Business Verification confirms your business is legitimate and unlocks higher WhatsApp messaging limits, the Official Business Account (OBA) badge, and the ability to add more phone numbers to the API.

⚠️ Before you start: You must be an Admin in Meta Business Manager (MBM). Log in at business.facebook.com and make sure your account is using Business Manager — not Business Suite.

Why You Need Business Verification

You must complete Meta Business Verification to:

  • Migrate your phone number to ChatDaddy (or any WhatsApp Business Solution Provider)
  • Increase your WhatsApp messaging limits beyond the default tier
  • Apply for the WhatsApp Official Business Account (OBA / green tick)
  • Add more than 2 phone numbers to your WhatsApp Business API account

Step 1 — Make Sure Your Business Info Is Complete

Before you can start verification, Meta requires all your business information to be filled in. Incomplete info = no "Start Verification" button.

  1. Go to business.facebook.com
  2. Click Settings (gear icon, bottom-left) → Business Settings
  3. In the left menu, go to Business Info
  4. Fill in all required fields:
    • Legal Business Name — must match your official business registration documents exactly
    • Business Address — street, city, state/province, postal code, country
    • Business Phone Number
    • Business Email
    • Website URL
  5. Click Save

💡 Tip: The "Start Verification" button only appears after all Business Info fields are saved. If you don't see it, go back and check every field.

Step 2 — Go to the Security Center

  1. In Business Settings, scroll down the left menu to Security Center
  2. Click Security Center
  3. You'll see a section called Business Verification with your current status
  4. Click Start Verification

If you don't see Start Verification, it means either your Business Info is incomplete (go back to Step 1) or your account does not currently require verification for its current features.

Step 3 — Enter Your Business Details

Meta will ask you to confirm your business information. Fill in:

  • Organization name (must match your legal documents exactly — spelling, punctuation, and capitalization)
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Website

Click Next.

Step 4 — Choose a Verification Method

Meta offers two ways to verify:

MethodHow it works
Domain verificationMeta checks that you own the website domain you listed. This is the fastest method if your domain email matches.
Document verificationYou upload official business documents for Meta's review team. Takes 1–14 business days.

Domain verification is recommended if available — it's usually approved within minutes.

For document verification, proceed to Step 5.

Step 5 — Upload Supporting Documents

Prepare 2–3 documents from the list below. The information on the documents must exactly match your Business Info in MBM (same legal name, address, phone number).

Document TypeWhat It Verifies
Business LicenseLegal name and business address
Certificate of IncorporationLegal name and business address
Utility Bill (business name on bill)Business phone number and address

⚠️ Important: Documents must be clear, legible, and not expired. Blurry scans or mismatched information are the most common reasons for rejection.

Upload your documents and click Next.

Step 6 — Confirm With a Verification Code

Meta will send a confirmation code to either:

  • Your business phone number (SMS or voice call)
  • Your business email address

Select your preferred method, enter the code you receive, and click Done.

Step 7 — Wait for Approval

After submitting:

  • You'll receive a confirmation email or Meta Business Manager notification
  • Approval typically takes 10 minutes to 14 business days
  • You can check your status anytime at: Business Settings → Security Center → Business Verification

If Your Verification Is Rejected

Common reasons for rejection:

  • Business name on documents doesn't match the name in MBM (even minor differences matter)
  • Documents are blurry, cropped, or expired
  • Address on documents doesn't match MBM business address
  • Website URL is broken or doesn't reflect your business

What to do:

  1. Open Security Center and read the rejection reason Meta provides
  2. Fix your Business Info or prepare new documents that match exactly
  3. Click Re-submit with corrected documents

After Verification — Display Name Review

Once Meta verifies your business, it automatically starts a Display Name Review for all your WhatsApp Business API phone numbers.

  • Your Display Name is what customers see on your WhatsApp Business profile
  • Approval takes 1–2 business days
  • Use your official business or brand name — generic names are commonly rejected
  • Follow Meta's Display Name Guidelines
